The Context Layer

AI is only as useful as the business context behind it. Large language models can reason across information, but they don’t inherently understand which documents are current, how information is related, who has access to it, or what matters for a specific task.

Egnyte’s Context Layer addresses that gap by turning enterprise content into structured, connected, and continuously maintained business context that AI applications and agents can use.

This paper explains how Egnyte builds that context across content, people, projects, business entities, relationships, activity, connected systems, and governance. It also looks at how the Context Layer assembles the right information for each task while preserving permissions, provenance, and currency.

The result is a foundation that lets AI and agents work from business context that is already organized, relevant, current, and governed instead of rebuilding that understanding with every interaction.
